Kevin Busch is a theology teacher at Lutheran High school and a graduate of Concordia. He is a man of great faith and one of the few people I chose to interview for this project. He helped me develop a faith message through the research process and shone a new light on how God works in our lives.
- Talk about how hard it is to recognize positive .vs. negative. Compliment .vs. insult.
- Colossians 3:2- “ Lift your eyes” uplifting yourself a powerful verse.
- Grieving shows how much you truly love the person.
- Secular people might say people turn to a religion after loss to fill a void.
- Make this personal, why does this entice me, potentially share my story/history.
- Don't show god as another vice show him as a way of life not a void filler.
- Void vanquisher not a void filler.
- “ He doesn’t just fill our earthly void of belonging, he surpasses it with an eternal supply of himself” -Kevin Busch
- Humans are deep we have emotions, feelings, etc. We grieve because god gave us grieving
- Noah's story after getting off the ark when he got extremely drunk. Depression, grief, sadness because it was just him and his 7 other family members. He plants a vineyard and is obviously seeking out something. Lashes out at his son Ham (one of his sons?) Cause he is embarrassed. Son walked into his dad's tent and saw his dad naked, other two brothers walked in backwards and covered him with a blanket. Dad wakes up and starts going off. God knew Noah would do that and still chose Noah to build the ark. God knows your mistakes now and in the future. Noah lives for three hundred years after his son all have kids with their wives.
- Morals- Some things might not be good for you but they can be legal Gambling, Marijuana, Alchol, Sex.
- End of project just saying “ I know people do not just pursue substances they pursue sex, gambling, etc.” All these things can be scary things (Inform them) on what good a therapist can do, or even just a trusted adult.
Throughout our time spent talking I realized the most important thing about god is he uses broken people to complete his work. This is shown in Noah a man who is grieving the loss of the entire world and gets drunk in a tent right after the ark lands. This shows that by human nature we are broken but god can still use anybody to show his glory through.
